ASIC Christmas Dinner Party Slated Thursday, December 8

Since we received such great reviews and comments on last year's party at Compo di Bocce, we are going back, but with an earlier start time of 6 p.m., so dinner doesn't go as late and more people can stay around for bocce ball and dessert afterwards. We will be at the Livermore location:175 E. Vineyard Ave., Livermore, CA 94550, (925) 249 - 9800. Invitations have been sent to you so RSVP before November 21.

Scholarship Recipients from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo each received a $750. Both students are actively involved in the Irrigation Training and Research Center and carry an average above 3.0. Each submitted a statement of their interest in an irrigation career.

Alex Valov: "In my irrigation career, I plan on designing and installing irrigation systems primarily for almonds and grapes in the Central Valley. I also hope to become a licensed engineer."

Brian O'Neill: "I have a deep-seated interest in irrigation. I grew up on the west side of the San Joaquin Valley and there are sustainable methods of irrigation that are mandatory. As the California water crisis deepens, the farmers of the western San Joaquin Valley will get stretched further and further."

Nor Cal held its Annual Christmas Party Wednesday, December 5, at the Pleasanton Hotel. It was an absolutely lovely evening.

Each beautiful vase that graced the dinner tables was one of the many door presents that were presented during the evening by Joe DePiano with JPH. We were wowed and thoroughly entertained by an all men's choir "New Dimension".

Hors D'oeuvres, dinner, wine, socializing, and of course the entertainment filled our evening with catching up with old friends, meeting new ones and enjoying each others company.

The grand prize/present for the evening was a bed-and-breakfast stay donated by Chris Steele with the Toro Company. A good time was had by all and a big "thank you" goes out to those who helped make the evening as wonderful as it was.

Thank you Russ Mitchell and Associates, ISC Group, Inc., JPH, Toro, Rep/Cor, Rainbird, Green Product Sales, Hunter, and Netafim.

Thank you to everyone who brought Toys for Tots. We miss our marine Burt standing guard over the toys, but we still managed to fill two big boxes that Chris and Russ Mitchell took to the local fire station to be distributed to children all over the Bay Area.
